How do we go from oil based fuel i.e. the old worlds economy represented by the wealthiest (oil)companies in the entire world, to sun, wind and other environmental acceptable ones the most environmental friendly way?
What if a metropol like London or Mexico City only allowed electric vehicles (EV)? This will soon be a reality, and then thousands of charging places is needed. But then the city had a very old and organized urban planning, ancient architecture and other obstacles to take in consideration before building thousands of pit stops for EV’s.
Another problem is when you produce sun or wind power equipment. Using steel, concrete or similar means you pollute the air in order to produce equipment that will produce “clean” energy – weird! So if you use wood, that during its lifetime had contributed to the CO2 process, you act wise. A third thing is solar panels: if one or two circuits don,t work, the entire panel will be rejected – weird 2!
So what to do?
The Sweden company InnoVentum have produced a hybrid solar- and wind power station named Giraffe, built of wood and recycled solar panels, and is now pitching the Mayor of London Boris Johnson with their idea. The very problem London face, is that London currently has around 1,400 charging points and will need 6,000 over the next two years. This together with the problem suffering from blackouts, which already occur makes it more delicate. So imagine if you had 6,000 rapid-charging stations and people plugging in at the same time. That will, for sure, create a blackout.
The very point is that Giraffe is produced by wood and recycled material, are 100% recycle-able and are CO2 negative from the start. It also use less material and the higher ratio of energy squeezed out per unit of material used, the better it is for mother earth and the more cost effective it is!
This is product development with a twist! Beat that!
