What kind of luggage would you design, if practicality were besides the point? At first glance, British designer Sarah Jane Williams suitcases and trunks look like they might hold musical instruments from odd places, and then you realize she’s made these unique forms because she can and dare.
“Historically exceptional craftsmanship was the norm, now it is the exception,” says Sarah Jane Williams website. “Williams British Handmade is designed to challenge this statement by utilising regional historical craftsmanship and metamorphosising the traditional in order to produce a collection of original fashion artefacts.”
All of the products produced by Williams British Handmade are bespoke or limited edition items made to the highest standards. The leather used is the best quality possible and the brass frames are produced by a skilled metal craft worker. Every stitch is handmade using the traditional techniques of saddle stitching.
Do you think you need guessing which pieces are yours at the baggage claim carousel, when traveling with these unique suitcases or trunks? Think not! This is truly product development with a design that stand out, and also with a real genuine british touch!
